HI, Bethany Lockamy here, I grew up in a large family in Virginia; with five brothers and two sisters, and was happy being the middle girl with a ton of cousins. Where we all went to church together and sometimes got in trouble together. My family and church have always been a big part of my life, whether I loved it or saw the challenges it provided. Life is messy sometimes and although we use books to escape it, I wanted it to help me with my writing. I truly fell in love with books as a young teen. I went through main characters and dreamt about who they would be to me, from Cowboys, Lords, Dukes to Vampires and Lycan. It always came down to the same thing, which was the love story, the forbidden or unwanted. If you weave a tale well, you can fall in love with any type of lead character. I knew I wanted to write fiction, but I wanted them to be relatable and look like the women and men that I knew in my life. I Love stories that depict people going through real life situations. I like to write about love (sometimes spicy), hurt, forgiveness and God's grace. I am a new writer and is hoping for this new chapter in her life will feel as wonderful as raising my son, traveling, and laughing with friends and family. Enjoy!

Jodaéa began her literary journey in 2008, chronicling her past experiences. She says her inspirations come from recalling past experiences, adding an element of fiction, and a shocking twist, then lets the stories write themselves! Every situation in her novels is loosely based in fact with fictional backstories. However, there is ALWAYS a lesson to be learned in the end! Jodaéa's novels are cross-genre projects that have elements of drama, psychological terror, romance, and mystery. Her novels have been reviewed internationally in countries such as South Africa, India, and Palestine. Jodaea explains, “I know my stories are interesting, entertaining, and insightful. My novels have stories within the story. Because most avid readers love instant gratification through literary escapes, my novels are quick reads. I don’t employ useless trivia or insignificant narration to simply fill pages. I love to keep my readers pulled into my stories by appealing to their five senses…what are the characters feeling, smelling, hearing, etc.. I try not to give the reader a chance to put my books down!" 2021 Author of the Year nominee by ACHI Magazine, Jodaéa is currently working on her fourth novel set to be released in late 2023. Additionally, her most beloved venture, the Novels By Jodaéa Individual Excellence Scholarship, has recently awarded it's recipient for 2023! As one of Pauli Murray's nieces, I not only feel it is an honor to be part of enhancing and promoting her legacy, but my responsibility to do so. I was part of her "Washington, DC' family.” I was influenced by her independence, perseverance, determination, and strong will. During my formative years she instilled in me a sense of being an advocate, activist, and feminist. My current work is to support and enhance efforts to promote her legacy by speaking and personal appearances. I am a supporter of the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice in Durham, NC. The building was originally our family's ancestral home, which was designated a National Treasure and a National Historic Landmark by the Dept. of Interior. The world is beginning to know of Pauli Murray and her pioneering work. It is time to bring her story to young minds and challenge them to follow in her footsteps in the continuing fight for equality and human rights. My hope, as an educator and her niece, is to be one of the ones to do that.
