About
The Write Women Book Fest was created to lift up and amplify women authors and publishing professionals. The festival welcomes all literary organizations and publishing professionals that are either owned or run by women or believes in lifting up women publishing professionals. The festival is meant to be diverse and welcoming to underrepresented groups including femme-identifying and non-binary individuals. We go to a lot of effort to try and keep it affordable, yet sustainable.
TWWBF is a cooperative effort with Prince George's County Parks of Maryland. The 2019 event was held at Marietta Historic property in Glenn Dale, Maryland. Prince George's County borders Washington D.C.

Heather Brooks, Founder
she/her Heather is an author, artist, social media manager, and book lover. She lives in Prince George's County with her partner and biggest fan. The idea for The Write Women Book Fest was born when Heather tried to find a local book festival that was dedicated to women authors and focused on indie and marginalized writers. Through her writing salon group Women Authors of Maryland (now The Write Women Network) she found mutual interest in such an event and started to work on planning it right away with the help of author and salon member Cardyn Brooks. Several other salon members contributed ideas and time in large and small ways, and with the support of William Hardy, Jade Brooks-Bartlett, Stacia Woycheck, several volunteers and supportive friends, Prince George's County Parks & Recreation, and the staff of Marietta House Museum the event was launched in September 2019. |
Cardyn Brooks, Outreach Director
she/her Cardyn is an author and original member of The Write Women Network and immedate supporter of The Write Women Book Fest. Her talents in reaching out, organizing, reading very fast, and generally being amazing is hugely responsible for the continuing success of the festival. Born to doting artists parents in Washington, D.C., Cardyn grew up surrounded with lots of love, art, books, and politics. In her dreams she is a fearless, brilliant super woman of beguiling charm, agile wit, and endless stamina. In reality she's an engaging oddball chocoholic bibliophile who earned a B.A. from Virginia Tech. She loves her family and friends, travel to tropical destinations, and time to write sensual stories about love that endures. Her book Seducing the Burks was a 2004 IPPY Awards finalist. |
Jade Brooks-Bartlett, Administrative Assistance, Event Planning Consultant & Day-Of Coordinator

Her background and experience in professional techincial theatre means she is adept at organizing and running events, even in the dark! Her experience with day-of wedding coordinating means she can look polished while doing it. Jade assisted with the inaugural 2019 book fest by streamlining ideas, helping with set-up and implementation of the layouts, decoration, social media and running around helping authors in every capacity on the day of the event, all with patience and a smile.
